Tun Tulis or Tuan Tulis is the title given to one of Negeri Sembilan Islamic Scholar named Haji Ismail Bin Hussein. He hailed from Kampung Kuala Talang, Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan. Born in 1840 and deceases in 1923. Tun Tulis was a poor young man with a strong will master the teaching of religion (Islam). Due to his setback, he borrowed books from his friends and copied them with his own handwriting and that was how he was given the nickname Ismail Tulis (Writing Ismail) by his friends. After completing his studies from other scholars, he continued writing religious books and was given the nickname Tuan Tulis (Mister Writing) by the village people. After his death, Yang Dipertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan decree that a building be built at the tomb of Tun Tulis and the building is still there until today.
